TransReader
Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 30, 2026
TransReader (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a language‑learning app that lets you read texts in another language and build a personal vocabulary. This policy explains what data is involved when you use TransReader and how it is handled. TransReader is provided by Sergey Kryzhanovsky (“the developer”). If you have any questions, contact us at skryzhanovsky@gmail.com.
The short version
- TransReader stores all of your content — the texts you add, your dictionary, sessions, folders, reading progress, and settings — only on your device.
- We do not operate servers that collect your data, and the app contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking software.
- The only data processing that happens outside your device is for the optional Premium subscription, handled by Google Play and RevenueCat.
- You can remove all app data at any time by deleting the app.
Data stored on your device
Everything you create in TransReader is saved locally on your device and is not transmitted to us or anyone else by the app:
- texts you paste, import, or scan;
- your personal dictionary and translations;
- reading sessions, folders, and library items;
- your review schedule, progress, streaks, and statistics;
- your settings and preferences.
We have no access to this content. If you uninstall the app, this data is removed from your device. Backups and exports you create (see below) are saved wherever you choose and are not uploaded by the app.
Information processed for purchases (Premium subscription)
TransReader offers an optional paid subscription. Purchases are processed by Google Play Billing (Google) and managed through RevenueCat, which we use to validate and manage subscriptions. When you start, restore, or manage a subscription, these providers process limited data such as:
- a purchase / transaction record and your subscription status;
- a pseudonymous app / subscriber identifier used to recognize your subscription;
- device and technical information (for example device type, app version, IP address, and approximate country) used to complete and protect the transaction.
We (the developer) do not receive your name, email address, or payment‑card details. Through RevenueCat we can see non‑identifying subscription information (such as whether a subscription is active, and anonymized identifiers) in order to provide and support the Premium features. This processing is necessary to operate the subscription you request.
These providers handle data under their own privacy policies:
- Google Play / Google — https://policies.google.com/privacy
- RevenueCat — https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
Device permissions
TransReader may request the following, and only for the stated purpose:
- Photos / images — only when you choose to import text from an image. Images are processed on your device to extract text and are not uploaded.
- Notifications — only if you turn on the optional review reminder. Reminders are generated locally on your device.
- Network access — used to process and validate the Premium subscription (Google Play / RevenueCat). The app’s reading and vocabulary features work offline.
TransReader does not access your location, contacts, microphone, or camera.
Backups, exports, and imports
You can create a backup file of your data, export your dictionary, or export your words to Anki. These files are created on, and shared from, your device under your control — you decide where to save or send them. The app does not upload them anywhere. Any file you import is read locally on your device.
Children’s privacy
TransReader is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country, such as 16 in parts of the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the subscription providers, please contact us and we will help address it.
Your rights and choices
Because your content lives on your device, you control it directly: you can edit or delete it in the app, or remove all of it by uninstalling. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data and to object to or restrict its processing. For data processed for purchases, you can exercise these rights with Google and RevenueCat, or contact us at skryzhanovsky@gmail.com and we will assist where we are able.
Data retention
On‑device data is kept until you delete it or uninstall the app. Purchase and subscription records are retained by Google and RevenueCat in accordance with their policies and applicable law.
International processing
The subscription providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, they implement appropriate safeguards for such transfers under their respective policies.
Security
We rely on the security of your device and its operating system to protect on‑device data, and on Google and RevenueCat to protect data processed for purchases. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but the app minimizes risk by keeping your content on your device and by avoiding analytics, advertising, and accounts.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide notice in the app or the store listing. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
